În baza colaborarii cu autoritatile locale, BANC POST a extins
în mai multe localitati din tara sistemul eTax care permite
contribuabililor, persoane fizice sau juridice, achitarea datoriilor
catre bugetul local prin intermediul instrumentelor de plata
electronica

18% dintre ofertantii care participa la licitatiile desfasurate
prin www.e-licitatie.ro considera ca sistemul electronic de
achizitii publice (SEAP) reprezinta, într-o masura foarte mare,
o modalitate de lupta împotriva coruptiei, 26% apreciaza impactul
acestuia în reducerea coruptiei ca fiind mare, iar 27% - mediu,
conform unui sondaj realizat în prima parte a acestui an la
solicitarea Asociatiei pentru Societatea Informationala e-Romania.

Pâna în prezent, date preliminare indica faptul ca pe teritoriul
României functioneaza un numar de 2758 de Internet-cafe-uri,
care dispun de aproximativ 7500 statii de lucru. Aproape 200
dintre acestea sunt deschise în Bucuresti, iar 73 în Constanta.

A U.K. tech industry body has urged the U.K. government to show
restraint in its use of open-source software, particularly software
covered by the General Public License.
Intellect, which is backed by Microsoft, IBM, Intel, BAE Systems
and other high-tech heavyweights, said that the requirement
of open-source licenses for software funded by the government
could have a negative impact on competition for contracts, on
the quality of the resulting software and even on the confidentiality
of government departments.

The AUNA Foundation published on 18/6/2003 the third yearly
edition of a major survey into the development of the Information
Society in Spain. Called "eEspana 2003", the survey shows the
evolutions that have taken place in 2002 and in the first months
of 2003. It presents a general overview of the Information Society
in the world and of Spain's position in the European context,
as well as a ranking of the country's Autonomous Communities
(regions).

A set of recommendations on network and information security
standards will be debated at an open meeting to be held on 13
June in Brussels. The recommendations have been produced by
the Network and Information Security (NIS) Focus Group, a group
of technical experts set up by the two European standards organisations
CEN (European Committee for Standardisation) and ETSI (European
Telecommunications Standards Institute) further to the request
of the Commission's services, in response to the Commission's
Communication on Network and Information.

The Austrian Federal Government announced the details of its
new e-Government Initiative at an e-government conference in
Graz on 5/06/03. Decided by the Council of Ministers in May
2003, the new initiative will comprise a new set of measures,
coordinated with regional and local authorities, designed to
implement of a nationwide, uniform approach to e-government
and to bring Austria into the European e-government top five
by mid-2004.
